Lets Talk About Cravings

Do you get cravings?
What is a craving?
How does one manage cravings?
How does one differentiate between cravings, long-throat and indiscipline?

Chei, the questions plenty.

We asked this question on the LIN Instagram page and got some hilarious responses.

Best response: “Craving is psychological, hunger is physiological, long throat is diabolical” 😂😂

What is a craving?

According to people who know English well, “a craving is a powerful desire for something”. Anything at all.
When people tell me they often get cravings, my first question is what for?
The list is always long, everything from noodles to puff puff and “pizzard”, but all this while I have never met one person who has cravings from Carrot or cucumber?
How come the craving is never for healthy food? 😐

On a more serious note, I think when it comes to wellness the only person you need to be truthful to is yourself.
If you have occasional desire for something outside of your regular routine, I think that is natural.

Cravings turn to long-throat / indiscipline wrapped in bad habit when it’s something that you always have. Today meat-pie, tomorrow french fries, next day coke & cake. This is when you need to call village people and tell them to release you.
By village people I mean yourself because you are the one in charge of your body.

How do you manage cravings?

When you constantly eat certain things especially when you are not hungry, it has crossed into “food issue” and it needs to be consciously managed.
For most people who talk to me about cravings, I tell them this: Eat your main food THEN only then do you eat the thing you are craving.
But wait, there is more – You must also make the food yourself. If you are craving it, you commit yourself to cooking it.

So in summary, if your craving is everyday it is indiscipline. It is fine to have the occasional cravings. Make sure you are eating your main meals before indulging in your cravings.
